Don't Delay! Set Up an Emergency Plan Today!
An
emergency plan
need not be some detailed 40-page guide to each and every possible situation. But a basic plan, simply explained to everyone in your family, can save lives. There's also a pre-plan stage that includes getting a
survival kit,
preparing your pantry, educating yourself, and getting the right equipment. All of this goes into home emergency preparation. When everyone knows what to do, panic and mistakes are greatly reduced. Everyone works together quickly, doing their part, ensuring the safety and welfare of each person (and pet). If you are preparing a disaster plan for your office or other work environment, we do have some products that may interest you. However, for planning purposes, we recommend consulting an emergency management professional. For households, we offer
example plans
(and products too) that will get you off to a good start. Since each family's circumstances are unique, it is important to consider your needs and adjust accordingly. We also recommend that everyone consider taking an emergency preparedness course. That will help you develop a personalized emergency action plan, and give you more emergency preparedness tips than we can do here.
Everybody should have:
- Emergency Evacuation Plans
Emergency Alarm
Emergency Cell Phone
Emergency Contacts
Emergency Savings Account
Families with children should have:
Emergency Identification Cards
The elderly and disabled should consider:
- Personal Emergency Response System
Emergency Identification Cards
All these things are part of a good plan. Also look into taking some emergency preparedness courses in CPR and Basic First Aid training. And of course a survival kit and a well-stocked pantry are always important.
